Awards

Congratulations to our Award Winners, it is our pleasure to announce the winners of our inaugural Rural Industry Training Awards, presented on Thursday evening at our gala dinner and presentation at the Mercure Hotel, Brisbane.

The winner from each category was presented with a certificate of achievement, as well as a cash prize of $1000.  With the winner of the Yvon Wigley Scholarship presented with a certificate and a cash prize of $2000.

All finalists received a certificate of achievement.

QRITC’s Board, CEO Barbara Bishop, and team would like to congratulate all winners and finalists and thank all of our guests for making the event a truly memorable experience in celebrating training achievement.  We look forward to your support again next year.

And the winners are:

Agriculture Production:
Wendy Hiscoe from Biddeston, via Toowoomba. Qualification achieved – Cert IV in Training and Assessment. Wendy is employed by Graincorp as a Traineeship Coordinator and trained with the Academy of Career Training in Toowoomba.

Production Horticulture:
Jericho Storey-Robinson from Innes Park outside Bundaberg, and is a student at Kepnock State High School, qualification achieved – Cert. II in Production Horticulture. Jericho is employed by Proudly nominated by Dept. Employment Economic Development and EEDI at their Bundaberg Research Station and trained with AACC.

Amenity / Lifestyle Horticulture:
Phillip Sharp from Gladstone. Qualification achieved – Cert. IV in Horticulture.  Phillip is employed by the Gladstone Regional Council in their Botanical Gardens and trained with Horticultural Training Pty Ltd.

Conservation and Land Management:
Jennifer Creek from Coen in far north Queensland.  Qualification achieved – Cert. III in Conservation and Land Management. Jennifer is employed with the Balkanu Development Corporation and trained with Northern Skills Alliance, Cairns.

Young Achiever:
Fraser McIntyre is a student from Pittsworth State High School, Pittsworth Qld.  Qualification achieved – Cert III in Agriculture. Fraser is employed with McIntyre Farming Bach Farms and Pursehouse Rural and trained with Golden West Employment Solutions.

Chairman’s Award:
Joseph Allport is a student at The Scots College in Warwick.  Qualification achieved – Cert. III in Agriculture.  Joseph is employed with James W Smith Pastoral Company, North Star NSW and trained with SQIT, Warwick.

Yvon Wigley Scholarship:
Awarded to Wendy Hiscoe, Wendy was chosen from one of our six finalists.
